Default So far the best weapons I have are collectors

I am submitting this idea, because I have found statistically that my customized collector weapons function as well as even the green items (uncustomized of course for potential resale). For example, I have taken the perfect fire wand and cutomized it to have 20% more damage along with 20%
recharge rate. Now I couple this with the 20/20 artifact and I have a perfect set. Now I know what your thinking, but its not green, or shiny gold, this is a correct observation. But, if you have not tried this theory I think you will be very suprised at how effective this is. I just started on my third character, the other two is already done with the missions have very nice armor and weapon build, yada, yada. I went to the desert and found a nice
max bow with 15% damage while enchanted, I customized it put a lightning string on it and a 16% enchantment handle on it. I came out of pre almost 10 level. This character is new to post and rocking with a max, low req, modded weapon for less than 1k. My next quest is to find the collector that has the max bows that are 15% when >50% health. Using perfect mods these bows will be as effective as any in the game, save some fancy looks. Afterward I will be building perfect staffs. Feel free to comment or lend any additional information on finding the most effective/affordable way to build weapon sets.

Longbow 15^50 = Arid sea requires 5 dune borrower jaws (best place to get them is elona, the first part of the mission), the arid sea is outside the north gate of augery rock and due south/east.

Composite bow 15^50 = outside augery north exit req 5x topaz crests, (available from draks outside elona).

A wand?

I didnt think you could mod them, or did you mean staff?

You can customise them at a weaponsmith, and they can carry recharge modifiers.

The problem is that the collectors have lousy selection - I don't want +15% when enchanted flatbows, but that's what they carry - I want +15% in stance, or +15%>50, but for that I need a gold. I don't want to drop to a shortbow to get my bonus :P

One collector in the desert is Mourn Drakespur(sp?) who collects 5 dessicated hydra claws and gives a short bow with 15%^50%.

I don't want a short bow. I want a flat bow. As it is I have had to buy a Drago's for the stance bonus pretty much, and a 13 req gold for the 15/50, because it was somewhat in my price range. Stance/15>50 are the better options for a ranger who uses preps not enchants.

But yes, collector's gear is great stuff. If only it indicated what type of ascalon bow it was...

Collector's weapons are what everyone should be using, imo while they save for their vain purchases.

The fire wand outside the N.Acdemy give +5 energy which is fantasic and very early in the missions.

My main weapon for my ranger is the 15^50 shortbow from the desert with a 5/1 vamp mod on.

My monk uses all collector weapons.

Slot 1) +5 energy fire wand from nolani and a 12/20/20 healing ank
Slot 2) req 5 holy rod 10% recharge/+3 energy>50 (quest reward from Yaks) and healing ank from above
Slot 3 and 4) same as above but with prot icon

Warrior uses the collectors +45/-2 dmg in stance shield, the 15% in dmg stance sword and axe

The only time i ever buy an weapons are for mods, or if i find a "look" that i want to go for with any character. I recently did buy a war axe because i liked the look of the PVP char axe, and my ranger got a good deal on an ivory bow and i self found good shadow bow and storm bow that i used.

I agree that collectors weapons are great. I use an axe from collector for my warrior..put on a couple of mods and now it's great. Same with a staff for my ele, it's basically a PvP type staff with mods.. I don't think these weapons are utilized enough in the game. I don't understand why either. You can get a max damage weapon for items that drop and you don't have to pay the extremely overpriced amount to someone selling a green or gold and I do mean extremely overpriced! 50K for a weapon...haha my collectors will do the same damage, I'll keep my cash for a mod I might want. I can get one as a drop and salvage or buy one pretty cheap. Could care less how the weapon looks, I don't admire my axe or sword when I'm swinging away or how my staff looks. In the end the damage is all that matters.

I've used collectors gear almost exclusively, until I find something better. I've slowly been replacing most of them with Green gear or golds that I find.

One thing that I've never understood, is why people pay so much for Bortaks Staff. 100K+Ecto is insane, unless you want it for just the skin. You can get the 20/20 Death staff right outside Elona's for 5 measly minotaur horns, and craft your own Bortak staff for half of what it would cost you for the green.

i guess people like saying "I'm wielding Broktar's staff"
as opposed to "I am wielding lame modded collectors bone staff of mods" (im not like that, im just saying people think like that).
i dont understand this either, my ele was very happy with his collectors fire wand and the flame artifact from droks until he got his rago's flame staff. (i still use the wand sometimes)
Well i guess buying and collecting rare items is the only thing left to do in PvE when you have an infinite anount of GW gold and have finished the game.

LONG LIVE THE COLLECTORS (the npcs)

My only complaint about the collectors is that the +1 attrivute (20%) focuses are only +10 energy, not +12, which would be better, other than that I'd have to say they are great!

I'm pretty sure there is a flatbow type collector bow. Check guildwiki once it comes back up.

There is but not a 15^50 one (longbow and shortbow and composite but not flatbow)

Same with swords and axes there are no 15^50 versions (which is the best mod), you can buy a 15^50 sword from droks but not an axe version.

There are +12 collectors artifact that are also 20/20. I am inclined to believe that this knowledge is not widespread because of all of the lower level collectors jade us into thinking that they don't have good stuff. This is not the case. Clear out the Shiverpeaks and look for the collectors in the high level areas, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what you find. Besides who wants customize an object that is worth 65-75k like Rago's fire wand? I have one, but its not worth customizing, my primary is my collector's that does 20% more consistant dmg than the green and gold items! The collectors in the desert also have perfect items. I believe that there is an equalivant to every combo somewhere in the game. The trick is to find it, then grind for it, good old fashion style.

Yes, the shiverpeaks has 20/20 collectors focus'es that are +12e, so does the desert. They also have +12e, +15/-1 items too. But to get the +1/20% ones you have to go to the jungle and get +10 req 8 ones - unless they changed something recently that I don't know about.
